For others..
January 16th, 2007I have been having really good times with God lately. I made a commitment to start getting up an hour earlier then I usually do and start getting into the word more. Last week I was reading Colossians and I came across this prayer that Paul prayed for the people of Colossae.
For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his people in the Kingdom of light. - Col 1:9-12
What a powerful prayer that Paul prays over the Collossians.
This past week I had the my Sr. High students pray this prayer for each other. This is something that I cant remember doing before, having a bunch of High Schoolers praying for each other. To be honest, I didnt know how they would react but it was awesome.
It was challenging to me. How often do I pray for other people with power. I can imagine that I pray for stuff that happens in people lives, or I pray for the safety and health of my family, but do I pray for people like Paul prayed for people - No.
So I am going to start. Yeah, this is going to take time but I am going to take my concern for others to another level.
So, I pray for you, whoever reads this, that you will be filled with God’s power, that you will be given the knowledge of His will for your life, that you will bear fruit for His glory, that you will be strengthened with all His power, and that you will have great endurance and patience and life comes down on you. God bless your life as you strive to live a life worthy to His calling.
